How we walk: Walk to School Wednesday, Get Moving Monday, and more!

  1. Elementary and Middle school students at our partner schools join us for weekly or monthly Walk to School Wednesday events. Students walk, bike, scooter, or skateboard to school... parents and pets are welcome, too!

  2. School staff, volunteers, or student ambassadors help walkers “check in” for Walk to School Wednesday. When they check in, students are tracked by grade and by teacher.

  3. We track the data from our “check ins” to monitor how many students are walk/biking.

  4. At the end of each month, the class with the highest number of total walkers wins a prize basket of playground toys: balls, jump ropes, hula hoops, chalk and more!

  5. Looking for an alternative to Wednesdays? Some of our partner schools have some creative ideas.

    • Daily walks - Pride Elementary rewards students walking/biking to school on a daily basis!

    • Get Moving Mondays - Monday morning programs combat Monday tardiness problems. Walk or bike to school before the 7:40a.m. bell to be counted for prizes!

    • Walk Home Fridays - Dunbar Elementary Magnet likes to see students walking after school either to home or to a community center down the street.
